Held in mid-February every year, the Jalopy Theatre and School of Music’s Midwinter Jug Band Rendezvous is a celebration of contemporary bands playing music from and inspired by the popular jug and string band music of the early 20th century. Here at The Jalopy Theatre we hope to carry on the work of exposing modern audiences to music of the ages, and to give a forum for those musicians who explore music of the past. Early Jug and string band music is one of the more ruckus and fun American musical traditions which simply cannot be left behind in the mad dash of modernity.
